Everton and Newcastle lose on Match Day 8

WestHam vs Everton

Everton lost their chance to move into the top four as they allowed WestHam beat them at home by 1-0. It was a game of few chances for the host. The visitors were determined not to allow Everton to play their game and it was so.

Everton was hopeful after a goalless first half, that things could turn in their favour. But WestHam continued to edge gameplay and were reward for their efforts when Ogbonna struck home the goal and struck home 3 points for the Hammers. 

WestHam now 14 points in 7th position separated only by goal difference from Everton.

Newcastle have rich new owners, but this did not stop them from losing their home game to Tottenham Hotspur. Newcastle struck first with a fine goal in the second minute of play, but Spurs responded with 3 goals before half time. It ended 3-2 in favour of the visitors. Newcastle remain in the relegation zone with just 3 points.

Premier League Match Day 8 Saturday Review

Some premier league results

Manchester United lost their tricky tie at Leicester. 4-2 to Leicester it ended. All the precautions Manchester United took didn’t work. They faced a Leichester side that was coming back to form. With this victory, Leicester are back in form after a bad start to their season. Manchester United slide down to fifth on the table after this loss.

Manchester City overcame a stubborn Burnley side by two goals to nil to stay third. Silva and De Bruyne scored in the 12th and 70th minutes for the hosts.

Liverpool walloped Watford by five goals to nil. They were top of the table for a few hours before Chelsea took over. Liverpool remain se ond on the table with 18 points.

Other results today saw, Southampton beat leads 1-0, Norwich and Brighton playing a goalless draw and Aston Villa losing at home to Wolves.

Chelsea beat Brentford

Chelsea celebrate goal

Chelsea won a hard fought battle with newly promoted Brentford in the late Saturday night game. Ben Chilwell got the three points for Chelsea with his brilliant strike in the 45th minute of the first half. Chelsea did deserve this lead because they were the better team in the first half.

Brentford fought gallantly, they had their chances. The outcome may have been different if Bryan Mbeumo had scored his shots that hit the post in the first and second half of the game. Chelsea’s goalkeeper also made three world class saves in the second half to deny Brentford. Malang Sarr for Chelsea also cleared off the line . Such was the quality of pressure Brentford threw at Chelsea.

In the end Chelsea survived and took all three points. They still remain top of the premier league with 19 points.

Next game for Chelsea is against Norwich  on the 23rd of October.

Brentford vs Chelsea is the Saturday night football this weekend. Chelsea take a tricky trip to Brentford knowing that any mistake on their path will make them lose points and lose top of the table position.

Brentford have been magnificent this season. In their last game before the international break they downed WestHam 2-1 on their away trip.

Chelsea could lose points in this game.

English Premier League Fixtures Match Day 8

The English premier league is resuming after the international break this weekend. The Big teams will be having easier fixtures. However, United, Chelsea and Spurs must be careful with their opponents.

Manchester United will be taking a tricky trip to Leicester City. Chelse will also be playing high flying Brentford who will be looking forward to a repeat of what they did to Arsenal.

How African Teams will Qualify for the Worldcup

A total of 5 five African teams will qualify for the 2022 world cup.

Qualification format

First round:

 28 teams ranked between  27th and 50th played home-and-away over two legs. 14 winners advanced to the second round.

Second round: 

40 teams comprising 14 teams from the first round plus the first 26 ranked African teams. The teams are divided into 10 groups of 4 teams each. The team that tops each of the groups after all matches have been played will advance into the 3rd round.

Third round: 

The ten second round group winners will play home-and-away over two legs. The five winners qualify for the World Cup.
