The English Premier League 2020/2021 season came to an end on May 23 2021. Manchester City won the league with games to spare. Manchester United took second position while Liverpool and Chelsea came 3rd and 4th respectively. The top 4 teams qualified for the Champions League.

Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United are relegated.

Arsenal underperformed again this season finishing 8th position. They will not be playing in Europe this season.

Promising Leicester City eventually dropped out of top four on final day of the season to finish fifth. They however qualify for Europa League football along side West Ham United who finished 6th.

Tottenham Hotspur finished 7th and gain Europa Conference League qualification.

Chelsea are European Champions

Chelsea Champions League Winners

Chelsea again made history by winning the 2020/2021 champions league. They beat the favorites, Manchester City 1-0 to claim the title for the second time in their history. Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the match from a defense splitting pass by Mason Mount in the 42nd minute. Manchester city tried in the dying moments to equalise but Chelsea held strong.

It was a well deserved victory for Chelsea as they neutralized the attack of Manchester City all game reducing their effort to just one shot at goal. Chelsea should have scored at least one more if they had taking their chances.

Against all odds Chelsea won the champions league beating Atletico, Porto and Real Madrid on their way to glory.

CONGRATULATIONS CHELSEA

Results of 2020/2010 Champions League Round of 16

The first leg, round of 16 matches of the UEFA champions league have concluded. PSG, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern and Dortmund look set to qualify for the quarter finals.

Barcelona lost at home to PSG by 4 goals to 1. PSG need to be very carefully as Bacelona have shown that they have the ability to come back in situations like this.

Liverpool is almost certain of qualification. They just have to avoid defeat at home to Leipzig in the 2nd leg.

Chelsea did a determined hard fought win against Atletico they only need a repeated performance against them at Stamford bridge.

Bayern easily displaced Lazio 4-1, I don’t think Lazio has got any chance of qualification.

Porto edged Juventus in the first leg, but they still have a lot of work to do in the 2nd leg.

Manchester City are in cruise control and should not have any problem qualifying for the quaters.

Real Madrid beat Atalanta in their away match, they should have no problem in the next match at home.

Dortmund just need a repeated performance at home in the second and they should qualify.

But it should be said that there are no guarantees in the champions league. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

English Premier League Roundup. Round 25

Manchester City continue their runaway to the title as they beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium. They are 10 points clear of 2nd placed, Manchester United.

Manchester United and Leicester City both win their games to stay in the race for the title. Their inconsistencies will see Manchester City win the title.

Chelsea lost points in their race for top 4 as they were held 1-1 by Southampton. West Ham capitalized on this by beating Tottenham 2-1 to go 4th.

Liverpool continue their downward spiral as they again lost at home to Everton.

The heat is on in the English Premier league. One team is threatening to run away with the title.

Manchester City is the team to beat.

Last Saturday, they gave a strong warning to other title aspirants by beating Tottenham Hotspur, 3-0. It was a convincing victory.

Manchester City currently leads the Premier League by 7 points with a game in hand.

Title chasing Manchester United lost ground as they were pegged back in a 1-1 draw with West Brom.

Leicester City laid down their top 4 credentials. They beat Champions, Liverpool 3-1, to take 3rd position on the table with only goal difference separating them and Manchester United.

Chelsea have not lost any game since they appointed their new manager. They continued that form when they defeated Newcastle by 2-0. Chelsea are now fourth on the premier league table.

Liverpool meltdown continues. They were beaten 3-1 by Leicester City. Liverpool slid to sixth on the table with 40 points.

Arsenal came back from their string of poor results to beat Leeds United 4-2 at home.

WestHam and Everton remain teams to watch out for in this season’s English Premier League.
