Chelsea have won the supercup for the second time in their history. This was after a keenly contested match with Villarreal. Chelsea started well dominating gameplay and scored midway in the first half through Hakim Ziyech. However Villarreal grew into the game and subsequently equalized in the 73rd minute through Gerard Moreno. It was the same scoreline after 120minutes. In the penalty shootout Chelsea survived their first penalty miss to eventually win 6-5.
